About me

Hello! I’m Chaw Su, a racialized woman business owner and clinical director of The Therapy Nest. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) and am pursuing a Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy (DCP) to serve my clients better. I am licensed with the College of Counselling Therapists in New Brunswick (CCTNB), a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC). My license allows me to practice both in person and virtually all across Canada except Quebec. As a professional, I think my approach and perspective on the experiences and challenges that relationships bring to people with ADHD have is unique. This is because I use a blend of trauma-informed approaches as well as lived in experiences to really understand my clients. I find that clients who seek me out are usually those who need help managing their Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms and have found other counselling methods not to be trauma-informed, culturally responsive or ADHD-informed. To remedy that, I use a blend of modalities and rely on higher-level certifications to understand each client’s unique perspectives. Being diagnosed with ADHD myself and certified as an ADHD service provider (ADHD-CCSP), I believe I am well-equipped both professionally and personally to help you navigate your neurodiverse life with compassion and empathy. Additionally, due to the considerable overlap between ADHD and childhood trauma, most clients seeking therapy need to learn how to regulate their emotions effectively and quickly. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), my treatment focuses on teaching clients soothing skills for emotional regulation, such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation, and advanced self-care techniques like mindfulness.
