About me

You are important and what you have to say matters! I am passionate about creating a safe egalitarian space for us to work together, to support you in your journey to better understanding the roots of the challenges that bring you to counselling, and to help you to make the changes needed. Taking the first step to look for counselling tells me your mental and emotional wellbeing matters to you. You are not willing to sit by and let challenges control you; instead, you are a fighter, a survivor, a resilient human being wanting better for yourself. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#18111) with over 12 years of experience working within the social service/ social change field, I have worked in various positions over the years as a Mental Health Worker, Employment Counsellor and currently as a Psychotherapist working with individuals and couples. I work with individuals of all ages from 13 years on. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kwantlen Polytechnic University (Psychology), and a Masters Degree from Adler University (Counselling Psychology). Additionally, I hold certificates in Trauma Therapy, Couples Therapy, Telehealth Services, Crisis Intervention and Conflict Resolution, and am trained in Adlerian Therapy, Couples Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I work from the understanding that we all construct a view of the ourselves, others and the world based on perceptions of our early experiences; these perceptions provide a foundation for our way of “being” in the world. Making the connections between past and present, and making meaning of our behaviors, emotions and thoughts, and their functionality in the present, is part of the therapeutic process. I draw from various therapeutic approaches in my work, including, though not limited to, Adlerian Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Narrative Therapy, and Emotion Focused Therapy. I am trained to work with First Responders, Individuals funded via the Crime Victim Assistance program (CVAP), and ICBC. I offer a free phone consultation and invite you to contact me so we can start your counselling journey.
