About me

I am a wife, mother, and ADHD-er in a neurodiverse family. In my home I am continually learning the healing power of play and connection; the importance of my own regulation and health; what it means to have unconditional acceptance, love, and compassion for myself and others; and, the importance of doing the work to heal my own traumas to be the parent my kids need and deserve. These experiences fuel my passion for the work that I do in supporting other individuals, couples, and families. As a Registered Social Worker. Registered Clinical Counsellor, and Certified Brainspotting Therapist, my therapeutic orientation is informed by the following: - Brainspotting (a gentle somatic approach for trauma processing and integration modality) - Internal Family Systems (IFS; parts work) - Relational Life Therapy (RLT) - Mindfulness and Self-Compassion - Family Systems Approach - Polyvagal Theory - The Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS) Model - Attachment Theory - The Neurodiversity Paradigm (non-ABA) - Holistic approach (mind-body-spirit; energy) - The lived experiences of neurodivergent individuals - Neuroscience I am committed to helping parents, educators, and service providers to: - Develop compassionate and evidence-informed caring practices - Recognize and celebrate human diversity - Embrace the mutual process of learning that is inherent in the parent-child relationship - Understand and work with differently-wired kids (i.e., autism, demand avoidance/PDA, ADHD, ODD, DMDD, anxiety, sensory processing differences, etc.) from a neurodiversity-affirmative framework - Engage in activities and relationships that support emotion regulation and life-giving self-care to prevent and recover from compassion fatigue, burnout, trauma, caregiving, and deteriorating mental health Camille Long, she/her/hers Registered Clinical Counsellor, Registered Social Worker, Certified Brainspotting Therapist, Certified AANE Therapist British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors British Columbia College of Social Workers Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers
