About me

At certain points, life can take more from us than we feel we have to offer. Perhaps you struggle with putting yourself first, experience anxiety in close relationships, and constantly worry about others’ opinions. You might have learned that it’s best to suppress your emotions or needs to avoid conflict. Perhaps you also struggle with low self-esteem or are hard on yourself, or just have a sense that it’s not completely okay to be who you are. These feelings often can often leave us hopeless and isolated. What can I offer is a compassionate and understanding space to explore whatever patterns are keeping you stuck or might be causing you pain. Together, way can work to develop more awareness, choice, and flexibility around how you relate to others and, most importantly, to yourself. The foundation of my work with clients in based on establishing a safe, trusting relationship where we can truly collaborate so I know how best to support you. Based on your goals and preferences, I draw on relational, psychodynamic, attachment-based, and emotion-focused approaches. In my commitment to fostering a safe environment, I aim to provide an inclusive and liberatory therapeutic experience to all clients. My practice is grounded in anti-oppressive, socially just, and trauma-informed frameworks. As a black woman from an immigrant family, I am keenly aware that our well-being may have important and complex relationships to the social, political, and economic conditions and contexts that we grow up in and exist in, and believe it is important to acknowledge and make space for this in therapy. I believe a good fit between therapist and client is essential to a productive therapeutic relationship. I offer a 30-minute free consultation before beginning sessions to make sure you feel comfortable working with me. I look forward to meeting you.
